RE: Need help on 5th Wheel Clearance

If it was my truck, and I knew once I bought it that it was to high and there was no going back(contract signed). But I was also assured buy the selling dealer and GM that it would work with a 5th wheel....then it didnt. I would get the selling dealer to remove the 6" lift. At the same time have them put a simple leveling kit on the front of your truck, that way you can still run the 35" tires(Not that big imho). Shoot, a level truck with 33/35" tires looks better than a lifted truck anyhow, and with just a level kit your rear wont be much more than an inch higher than stock given the oversized tires. Your gonna lose your butt on the lift kit though, While you might get them to remove it as a goodwill gesture, they aint gonna refund you the purchase price. Oh and dont sweat the weight rating on 20's. There aint a manufacturer out there thats gonna sell an 8lug wheel that has less that plenty of weight rating.

RE: A sad story. Please open link.

Truly a tragedy. That said, why do these things get reported here on the Forum with such regularity? I think it is macabre that we need to get these things here so quickly. What can be said about something like this? What do we learn? Just a thought that has been moving around in my head for some time. IMHO it reminds us that no matter how good we are at hooking up, towing, backing, setting up, whatever, we should never get complacent about what we as RV's are doing when our stab jacks and landing gear are up and the cooler is closed.

Filter That and 10-15 minutes for the FF. Seriously. It's so easy my 5 year old could do it.

RE: Finally Got New (To Us) Tow Vehicle!!

have a slow speed popping noise in the front that I have to figure out Ball joints are a known issue with this vehicle. Yea, If ya want to quiet them down some and extend thier life a little bit. Get a needle injector for your grease gun and stick it through the rubber boot to fill it up with grease. There is no going back once you do that though, so make sure its really your ball joints.

RE: Warren Buffett says

I would not and dont belive a word WB says publicly. Now if he was a buddy and had some things to say off the record over a beer and a cigar. Thats when I would listen.

RE: Between the Pin box and hitch

Anybody ever wear one out? I would guess that it gets lost or falls off before it actually gets too thin to use. If you really used one up, post a picture. That would be a hoot. Quoted for truth.

RE: 03 Chevy Silverado with Quadrasteer

It helps position the rear end of the truck better. But you do have a switch to turn it off if you don't like it when backing up. It makes for a great tow vehicle. Too bad it was only ever available in the 1/2 tons. My brother in-law had it on his 1500HD. I would'nt call that a 1/2 ton. Here is one like his only not blue but black. The 1500HD is unofficially known as a "Heavy-Half", but it is still considered a 1/2 ton, even though its GVWR is only around 600# less than the 2500HD. But that IS 1/4 of a ton when you think about it. Quadrasteer - I stand corrected - did a bit of research and found it WAS offered on 2500 crew cabs. Here is that link. The article also talks about how the cost varied as time went on. The 1500hd and the 2500 are the same truck, sans badges. This excludes the 2500hd, that is significantly different than the 2500/1500hd. I'm with ya on the heavy 1/2 thing, its just that your link states "2500" not "2500hd". Personally I consider the 1500hd and 2500ld 3/4ton trucks and the 2500HD more like a heavy 3/4 ton. BTT my B.I.L. like it alot, he just wanted a D/A for his future plans and sold his 03.

RE: Type of 5th wheel hitch

Pearlbum, Reese/Drawtite are the leaders in the industry. Anybody who would tell you to stay away from their product has no clue on how to buy, or how to give advice. I do not own stock in the company, nor do I really care which hitch you go with as they have developers and engineers that have worked their tails off for years to develop a safe and reliable product that will stand up to the test of time. Do your own research from here and ignore someone who tries to lead you in another direction. boatsplus ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ What he said.

RE: Misquito repellent or remedy?

100% deet or maybee its 99.7% I cant read the bottle I have any more, the repellent does a number on the printing on the container. It works great, but we dont put it on our kids, we just keep a bottle of sss or whatever close and respray them often.

RE: Camo netting

If your talking about U.S. Army camo net, stay away, stay far away. Setting that stuff up was the biggest pain in the rear ever. Used it quite often over our AN/TPQ-36's and 37's. Nothing but a tangled mess of headache, no matter how well you pulled the twigs out and how nicely you folded them up.

I check mine quite often, pretty much every fill. It is a great and imo underused tool for noticing engine problems.

Forums only for me. When I want to know what one person has to say I tune in to AM radio. The radio also gets me local news and weather at the same time.

RE: F350 diesel transmission

I have just purchased a F350 single axle turbo diesel to tow my travel trailer. according to the owners book, I am to use the tow feature for the transmission only when I am going up and down hills. I towed with a Suburban prior to this truck and I left the tow feature on all the time. If I do that with this F350, the transmission temp gauge runs very hot, but as soon as I turn off the town feature, the transmission cools down. I am towing a 6100 lbs camper. Should I be in tow mode all the time or only when going up and down hills. What year is your truck? I had a Torqshift equiped f-350(04) and used t/h every time I had my trailer on. Worked great, never had one complaint about my Torqshift tranny.
